Seongyeong Bae

Seongyeong Bae (born 1998 in Changwon, South Korea) began her musical journey on the piano at the age of five. She attended Kyeungnam Arts High School, graduated with honors, and completed her Bachelor's degree at Keimyung University College for Music and Performance Arts in 2021. Since 2022, she has been studying at the University of Music and Dance in Cologne/Aachen under Professor Andreas Frölich.

Already at a young age, Seongyeong Bae won numerous national competitions in South Korea. After enrolling at the University of Music and Dance, she became active in Europe. In 2022, she participated in the Summer Academy at the Mozarteum in Salzburg and performed on stage at the academy concert for prize winners. In September of the same year, she played at the opening concert MozArte Apero of the "MozArte 2022" International Piano Competition & Festival.

In 2023, she attended the Piano Loop Winter Academy in Split (Croatia) and was subsequently invited to perform as a soloist in the concert series for young pianists. Shortly thereafter, she won the 1st prize at the 5th International Piano Competition Laszlo Spezzaferri in Verona by achieving the highest score (100/100). In June of the same year, she performed as a pianist at the Piano Festival Ruhr Piano Marathon during the "ExtraSchicht" 2023 at the UNESCO World Heritage Zollverein in Essen.

She was also greatly honored to perform at the celebrations of the 140th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Korea and Germany at the Konzerthaus in Berlin. In addition to other concerts at the Dortmund Concert Hall, the Anneliese Brost Music Forum Ruhr in Bochum, the Hercules Hall in Munich, and in the cathedral churches of Cologne and Salzburg, she managed to win several competitions in 2023. In August, she performed as a soloist at the international Music Festival in Paris, and in November, in a piano duo in the master category of the "Brigitte Kempen Competition."

At the turn of the year 2023/24, she gave several concerts as part of a scholarship from the Werner Richard – Dr. Carl Dörken Foundation. She performed as a soloist in Hagen, Stadtlohn, Eitdorf, Bramsche, and Wetter (Ruhr), and as a duo with Alica Koyama in Koblenz, Tecklenburg, Essen, Grevenbrück, Gummersbach, and Oelde.

In the spring of 2025, Seongyeong Bae will perform as a solo pianist in the concert series "Best of NRW," season 2024/2025, in Senden, Witten, Finnentrop, Unna, Bottrop, Essen-Borbeck, Stadtlohn, Schwelm, Herdecke, and Raesfeld.
